Our mission
We work to instill a love and respect for the sea by sponsoring youth in Orange County to attend conservation fishing excursions, whale watching trips, surf camps, and ocean environmental education camps.

Many children don't get the opportunity to experience the ocean—it might be that they are battling a chronic illness or that they struggle with a developmental disorder, while other kids never have the experiences we offer because of financial limitations. Our hope is that through this foundation, we can give as many children the chance to come to the sea and feel some of the healing and joy that comes from the salt water.
In memoriam of Cole
Sea of Love Foundation was started in 2018 in loving memory of Cole Smith who passed away suddenly at the age of 21. Cole was an avid waterman and passionate about the ocean. You could find Cole any day of the week in the water either surfing, fishing, working on a whale watch boat or just walking up and down the sand picking up trash. Cole loved sharing his passion for the sea with others. Through his foundation, we hope to continue sharing his love through our programs.

The founders
August 26th, 2013 was a day that changed the Smith family’s lives forever with the tragic loss of Cole. They have chosen to turn their trial into something positive by creating this foundation in his honor. Their hope is that they can share his love and passion for the ocean with deserving children everywhere.
